Interactions médicament-biomolécule

A new activity under development in the group is the study of the interactions between drugs and biomolecules. One topic focuses on the interaction between anthracyclines and DNA. Another topic is the interaction between non-steroid anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDS) and proteins.

We use time-resolved fluorescence spectroscopy to probe fundamental processes such as energy and electron-transfer induced in the drug-biomolecule complex by UV exciting the drug. Ultrafast spectroscopy also provides information on structural properties and dynamics of the complex. These studies are complemented by separate studies of the drug's photophysical properties, necessary in order to understand the complex.
